Amphibian Conservation

The alarming global decline of amphibian species prompted the zoo associations, zoos and private participants in the German-speaking region to engage actively in the conservation of this highly endangered group of animal species. This amphibian conservation programme supports a range activities including amphibian conservation and research projects, conservation breeding, capacity building, training and capacity building, habitat restoration, and education and awareness activities.

A special funding pot, the “Amphibian Conservation Fund”, was set up specifically for funding amphibian conservation measures. Stiftung Artenschutz (Species Conservation Foundation) holds the Amphibian Conservation Fund in trust for the zoo associations, zoos and private participants in the German-speaking region, and manages its allocation with the input of those partners.
